On request I will share a list of the most popular exchanges to start with crypto trading. This post will be linked in the Pinned post for future reference and I will try to update whenever more and good suggestions are made:
Fiat & crypto trading
Coinbase Pro: BTC, LTC. ETH trading only (if you are on Coinbase: activate your Coinbase Pro account and move your funds to the Coinbase Pro account) https://pro.coinbase.com/ (more coins and tokens have been added)
Kraken: reasonable choice in different coins to trade (User Interface somewhat difficult) https://www.kraken.com
Gemini: BTC, ETH only https://gemini.com (more coins have been added)
CEX: BTC, ETH + 3 more https://cex.io
Bitstamp: BTC,ETH, LTC, XRP https://bitstamp.net
Crypto to crypto trading
Bittrex: https://bittrex.com
Binance: https://www.binance.com
Bitfinex: https://www.bitfinex.com (no US residents)
HitBTC: https://hitbtc.com (be careful on his platform; a lot of negative user experiences)
Kucoin: https://www.kucoin.com
Bitmex: https://www.bitmex.com (leveraged derivative bitcoin trading; only recommended for advanced traders!)
Remember not to store large amounts of crypto on exchanges, only the amounts that you use for frequent trading; the majority of your coins should be safely stored in a private wallet, preferably a hardware wallet! It is also recommendable to divide your balance among different exchanges. Make sure to bookmark the exchange links where you have your accounts, so you won't be a victim of phishers!
